Mercedes-Benz is going Topless with the new C-class

When the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan and coupe hit the streets, they brought S-Class styling and technology at a fraction of the price. Now, Mercedes-Benz adds three new convertible models to the C-Class mix, and like the hardtop versions also called the C300, AMG C43 and AMG C63S.

Mercedes Benz Convertible C-Class Line C300, AMG C43 and AMG C63S

There a minimum differences between the three different models. They all feature a sharp horizontal crease along the side, upswept headlights and a curvy rear end. They also all share the same convertible top, one that opens and closes in 20 seconds. When opened up the convertible top leaves plenty of room in the trunk for you to store 2 golf bags.

Underneath the hood is where these cars differ. The C300, being the least powerful of the three. It sports a 2-liter turbo engine that puts out 245 horsepower and 273- pound- foot torque and has a nine-speed transmission.

The midrange AMG C43 convertible has a 3-liter V6 puts out 367 horsepower and 384 pound-foot torque. The standard rear-biased 4Matic all-wheel drive system gives it most of the fun of a rear-wheel drive car but with a bit more stability and poise. The nine-speed automatic transmission is the same as in the C300, but with more power on tap.

The big daddy of the C-Class convertibles is the AMG C63S. The 4-liter biturbo V8 puts out 510 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, all going to the rear wheels through a seven-speed automatic transmission. The Sport Plus mode ratchets up the stiffness in the chassis to a point not felt in the other two convertibles. The transmission can be locked into manual mode, like the C43, but the lack of two extra gears means the car wails a bit more when pushed to the limit.

The C-class convertibles will be available this fall. No word on pricing yet, but a Mercedes-Benz rep said the convertibles should be priced close to the coupe variants. Interested in our other fine Mercedes-Benz vehicles? Check out our inventory or contact us today to get yours now!

Introducing the new 2016 Mercedes-Benz Gelandewagen Lite

The Mercedes-Benz G-class, a.k.a. Geländewagen, a.k.a. G-Wagen, is a high-powered spectacle of a 4x4, a gloriously antiquated icon for the rich that is just too damn cool. Its basic design is almost 40 years old, it’s high and boxy, the suspension is soft, the gas mileage is scandalous, and the base price tops $120,000. But if your goal is Kardashian-level visibility, then the mighty G550 is just the ticket.

2016 Mercedes-Benz G550

We appreciate the fact that Mercedes continues to update the old G-class with its latest engines, and this is a powerful truck, with the 4.0-liter providing more than enough speed. Compared with the more powerful AMG models, the new G550’s seven-speed automatic has to shuffle gears a little more frequently to maintain momentum, which it does smoothly and effectively. Despite weighing 5882 pounds, our test vehicle was slightly quicker than the old G550, bolting to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds and covering the quarter-mile in 14.4 seconds at 97 mph.

2016 MB G550 Going Off Road

The new G550 has the same updated electronics as the other AMG models, including a fancier instrument cluster and center stack, as well as driver aids such as blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control. The regular G-wagen’s unfinished side pipes don’t bellow with the same authoritativeness as the AMG V-8’s chrome-tipped cannons, which is the best part about driving such an amazing vehicle on the street.

Stop on by and check out a G-Wagen today or contact us to get yours now!

Mercedes could use rainwater to improve your car's traction on snow

I know, I know, it's summer and I'm writing about snow. But hear me out.  Mercedes-Benz parent company Daimler, has recently filed a patent on a new technology that could make driving in snowy and icy conditions much safer.  They submitted the following diagram describing the new technology.

The diagram shows an innovative system that improves traction by spraying hot water on tires in order to melt snow and ice that may have built up in the tires tread.  The water is pumped out of a small tank and through a heat exchanger, therefore making it hot enough to melt snow and ice. It is sprayed directly onto the spinning tire through three small nozzles that have been integrated into the wheel well.  The system was designed to collect water that drips down the rear window from multiple sources; a car wash, rain water or melting snow.  While melting snow and ice is the main technology, there is theory that the water can be used to cool hot tires, either in the summer or on the track. Daimler is well aware of that possibility, but that would mean an integration of a thermal imaging system in order to monitor the temperature of each tire, when to spray, and how much would be needed for it to properly to its job.

The patent doesn't guarantee that the next C-Class will be equipped with this tire-spraying technology.  At this point, it's only an idea from Mercedes engineers and they don't know if, let alone when, this system will make it to a production vehicle. If it is approved for production, you can look for the system to appear on a top-rung model like the S-Class.

2017 Mercedes-Benz G Class Preview

The G-Class is famous for being the original luxury, off-road SUV. Its durability is that of legendary status, whether it is venturing in the safari, in arctic tundra, or being used as a military vehicle. Like a fine wine, the G-Class only continues to get better with age. The 2017 model continues to get better as it sees a technological overhaul.

The G Wagon's infotainment system features an 8 inch display screen, Apprle CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, a wi-fi hotspot, and real time traffic reports. Additional connectivity options include a SIM card reader as well as USB/Ipod docks. The G Class has an emergency call system fitted as standard, which automatically contacts someone at one of the automaker’s emergency response centers in the case of an accident. If severe enough, key information such as the GPS position, direction of travel and time of the accident can be sent to emergency services.

Among other interior updates, the G-Class includes a new anthracite trim and a new lightweight wheel with a matte black finish. Whether offroading or commercial applications, it is designed to do it all.

No changes have been made to the power. It is still the same old 416 Horsepower V-8 engine. If you really want to upgrade, though, the AMG G63 and G65 go up to 563 HP V-8 engine and 621 HP V-12 engine. Needless to say, we are excited to test drive the G-Wagon when it gets released.

April of 2016 a Best Ever for Mercedes-Benz USA

Selling Over 32,000 vehicles in the month of April, Mercedes-Benz continues its dominance over the luxury car market.

"We are heading into a strong second-quarter with a minimum of nine new model launches in the months ahead," said Dietmar Exler, president and CEO of MBUSA. "We expect to see strong sales momentum as we move into the summer months."

The C-Class was the king of the month, selling over 5,600 units, with the E-Class selling over 4,800 units, with the GLC rounding out the top three selling over 4,400 units.

The most incredible of them all? Mercedes AMG High Performance models sold 1,967 units in the month of April, which was up a whopping 76% from the previous year when they sold 1,119 luxury units.

The secret for the success is really simple. Luxury style. Luxury quality, inside and out. No other luxury brand has won as many awards as Mercedes-Benz, including winning 3 out of 5 awards at the World Car of the Year awards in 2015, a first ever by any brand.

We are definitely looking forward to the release of all the 2017 models in the coming months as we know Mercedes is always striving to improve upon the already best luxury brand out there.

Mercedes has 15 model lines ranging from the sporty CLA-Class four-door coupe to the flagship S-Class and the Mercedes-AMG GT S. To get yours, visit us or chat with one of our sales representatives at Gurley Leep Mercedes .

Mercedes Outdoes Itself Again With 2017 E-Class's Autonomous Driving Features

The Mercedes E-Class has long been overshadowed by its more advanced model, the S-Class, but you wouldn't know it from looking at the 2017 model. Externally, it is sharper than ever. It's been entirely refurbished with a large exterior body that rivals other Mercedes models. The extended hood and short trunk make for a cleaner, classier version than the compact C-Class, but the 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that can exude over 241 horses ensure that the E-Class doesn't lose any power.  While that is great, that is not the reason everybody in the automotive industry is absolutely gushing about the 2017 E-Class. It's technological features are so advanced that not only does it lead the way for Mercedes innovation, but possibly all luxury vehicles.

The E-Class's ability to integrate the autonomous driving features as well as its safety and infotainment hardware create a sensual design that may be the sleekest currently. It is so revolutionary that it is the first of the German automakers to really integrate the technology seen in their concept cars into the drivable line. The E-Class's autonomous driving feature, Intelligent Drive Driving Assistance, allows the driver semi-automated driving on freeways, highways, and even in city traffic, with autonomous braking where required in hazardous situations and ability to perform evasive maneuvers. The E-Class's goal is to achieve a more comfortable, less stressful driving environment that ensures the greatest safety for all its drivers and passengers.

The E-Class Distance Pilot DISTRONIC function automatically maintains the correct distance to vehicles in front of it.

Mercedes-Benz did an excellent job in promoting safety, but it also did an awesome job in encouraging the leisure side of things. Long road trips that seemed stress filled and mind numbing have now become an after thought. While attention is still required, it is nice to know that you have a second set of eyes guiding you and your passengers on your journey. The best part of the Autonomous Braking system? It can recognize instantaneously if a hazardous situation has arisen, whether it is a vehicle running a red light, a large animal entering the road, or a human crossing the street when they shouldn't.

One thing is evident from Mercedes in this new E-Class: they plan to be the head of the pack of the luxury brands when it comes to these new autonomous driving tools.
