The C-Class has gotten an upgrade

Mercedes-Benz has updated a member of its C-Class, unveiling a new C-Class Coupe several weeks ahead of its official September debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The car’s design reflects a focus on both performance and aesthetics. “We honed in to ensure maximum driving enjoyment,” says Heiko Schmidt, product manager for the C-Class at Mercedes-Benz USA. “This meant lowering the car 15 millimeters [approximately 0.62 inches] compared with the C-Class sedan, which makes the vehicle more sport-tuned. We also reduced the car weight by using alloy components and included 18-inch wheels to ensure agile handling on the turn.”

“Among the most important elements in our new model were the ways our designers explicitly sacrificed some function to focus on form,” adds Gorden Wagener, vice president of design for Daimler AG. “The C-Class Coupe is 2.4 inches longer than its predecessor, which means the front is more striking with its long, aggressive hood and the rear has a bold new look.”

The new C-Class Coupe will initially be available as a C300 four-cylinder (both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive) when it is launched in Spring 2016.
